King Gbehanzin Nightstand
Dahomey was ruled by powerful and visionary kings, among whom King Gbehanzin stands as one of the greatest. In honor of his legacy, I created this lamp as a tribute to his courage and historical significance.
This piece is the first in a collection of desk lamps inspired by the great kings of Dahomey. The design draws from the royal mausoleum of King Gbehanzin and is 3D printed using flexible materials, blending tradition with contemporary technology.
King Gbehanzin was a fierce defender of Dahomey’s sovereignty. He resisted French colonial forces and fought to protect his land from invasion. His story of resistance is symbolically represented on the roof of the lamp, which is modeled after the miniature form of the royal mausoleums of deceased Dahomey kings.
A mausoleum is a large, specially constructed structure that serves as a tomb, built to house the remains of an important individual. In this design, the mausoleum form becomes both a memorial and a narrative surface.
On the roof, King Gbehanzin is depicted with his hand raised, commanding the French troops to halt their advance toward his land. On the lower section of the structure, the king’s throne is embossed, a powerful symbol of his authority and a distinguishing emblem that sets him apart among the rulers of Dahomey.

Voronoi handbag
A Voronoi pattern (or Voronoi diagram) is a mathematical way of dividing space into regions based on distance to a set of points. The result is an organic, cell-like structure that appears naturally and has inspired countless applications in science, engineering, and design.
In nature, Voronoi patterns are everywhere: the patches on a giraffe’s skin,, the arrangement of kernels on a corn cob, the cells of a leaf, the segments of a garlic bulb, the intricate structure of dragonfly wings, and more.
What makes these patterns fascinating is not just their beauty, but their efficiency. Nature rarely creates forms that serve only one purpose. Instead, structures often have multifunctionality — performing several roles at once with minimal waste of energy and resources.
